As a therapist, I help people explore personal issues that have proven to be too difficult for them to manage alone. I work with adults, teens, adolescents, and children struggling with depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance, PTSD, panic attacks, and stress-related physical problems. Along with helping clients find relief from these issues, my approach is a holistic one aimed at supporting their overall well-being and long-term happiness.
Sessions are conducted in a relaxed and confidential setting where clients discuss the deeply personal concerns that cause them distress and diminish their quality of life. Through counseling, people gain insight not only into themselves, but also into the feelings, behaviors, and motivations of others. This understanding allows clients to more effectively act on their personal needs in the context of their primary roles and relationships.
Along with being a Licensed Professional Counselor, I’m also credentialed as a Registered Nurse with nearly 20 years of psychiatric nursing experience. My experience as a psychiatric R.N. is particularly helpful to clients considering the relative benefits of psychiatric treatment for the problems they face. This includes whether or not to consider psychotropic medication for issues like anxiety, sleep disturbance, depression, and ADHD.
For clients confronting significant physical illness or chronic health problems, my experience as both a therapist and an R.N. allows me to provide support, based on an informed interdisciplinary perspective. For clients facing cancer, this support is based on best practices and grounded in my own personal experience as a cancer survivor.
I’ve been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2008, and an R.N. since 1989. I earned my M.S. in Education Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2000. I’m a native of Green Bay and the proud father of a teenage son. When I’m not at work I enjoy carpentry, landscaping, and other kinds of hands-on work. I’m an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for travel, especially when it allows me to explore new places to kayak, distance swim, hike, cycle, snowshoe, and wild forage.
